The Culling Process Collab
As creatives, we understand that every artist, both in front of and behind the camera, has their own way of doing things. To the average client, or models new to the scene, there are still so many questions that I'm sure we all wish we had some insight on when we first began. I know for me personally, one of the topics many of my clients had asked me, and something I personally am curious about, is the Culling Process. The question of "How do we choose which images are the best?" or "how does the photographer choose which images to send me?" or "How do I choose which photo lands on my feed?" all these questions lead us to this video, and I'm so happy to have you all here to create it with me. Greg and I both believe in transparency and education within our creative community, and want to use this platform and opportunity to share perspectives from talent we as individuals, and our creative community as a whole respect.

The Objective
1) Create a 2-3 part video series revolving around the culling process:
- A) Photographer's Culling
- B) Model's Culling
- C) Photo and Model react (1 or 2 videos)
2) Provide BTS and Reels content of the shoot for all parties involved
3) Decide a Launch day for the video and sneak peaks/hype leading up to it
4) Have a Kick Ass Shoot and give our talent content to support their craft!
What the Photog Gets
1) 1 Hour Shoot with The Kayla Craigmile
2) Digital copies of each finished product for their use
3) Two individual BTS Highlights from Greg and Jon
4) A feature on TheKcCreatives (post, story, reel)
5) A featured playlist on YouTube with full links in description
6) A Google drive link to the full Culling and Reaction from the Model's Perspective
What the Model Gets
1) 1 Hour Shoot, up to 2 outfits with The Naomi Read Photography
2) Digital copies of each finished product for their use
3) Two individual BTS Highlights from Greg and Jon
4) A feature on TheKcCreatives (post, story, reel)
5) A featured playlist on YouTube with full links in description
6) a Google drive line to the full Culling and Reaction from the Photographer's Perspective
General Shoot Itinerary
May 18th, 2022
Location: Naomi's House
10726 Scott Rd Pleasanton, KS 66075

(Aside from arrival, all times are estimations, the goal is to do items 1-5, 6-7 can be filmed another day if need be)
1) Everyone arrives on Location at/around 5pm
2) 5pm-6pm Naomi and Kayla Portrait Session, Greg and Jon BTS
3) Post shoot, break into two groups for Culling Process video portions.
4) Import the SD card onto both computers (Please have Lightroom and OBS installed on your laptops)
5) 6:20ish - start the recordings for the culling process
6) 7pm (if time allows) Record the reaction videos for each perspective
7) 7:30pm end
The Photo Portion
Naomi will run through a 1 hour photography session with Kayla. Our goal is to capture both the photographer and the model as authentically as possible. You are free to share any creative process info, but the main priority for this video is to capture BTS footage. Feel free to make random commentary throughout the shoot and have fun!
The Video Portion
Naomi and Kayla will split into separate rooms for recording. Each artist will start with a full Lightroom library and start the culling process (Kayla we will teach you the ins and outs of doing so.) As you start narrowing down, speak freely and describe why you are doing so. It doesn't have to be profound, we just want to hear your thoughts! Watch the video banner above for some examples.
Video Interview Mood Board
Greg and I will be aiming for this level of quality for the interviews. Since we will more than likely be splitting up, focus on keeping a shallow DoF and keeping our talent in their respective 1/3 of frame. (1/3 side TBD)
Video BTS Portrait Mood Board
Greg and I will be creating our own respective takes on a video portrait in between any downtime or looks between changing or at the end (Mostly set for reels content for the Model/Photog)
